Latvia, officially the Republic of Latvia, is a Baltic country in Northern Europe. It is bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, Russia to the east, and Belarus to the southeast, with a coastline along the Baltic Sea.
With a population of around 1.9 million, Latvia is famous for its medieval architecture, particularly in Riga's old town, its rich cultural traditions, and beautiful natural landscapes. The country is known for its strong choral singing tradition.
Latvia is a member of the European Union, NATO, and other major international organizations. Its capital, Riga, is the largest city in the Baltic states and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
